LieuZaide
A cultural space dedicated to photography in Saint-Gaudens, this venue hosts exhibitions by a variety of artists, alternating with those devoted to Jean Dieuzaide.
Opened in April 2026, it features books, posters, reproductions and catalogs, as well as Jean Dieuzaide’s studio collection.
From Jean Dieuzaide to LieuZaide…
Jean Dieuzaide, a great French photographer of the generation of Doisneau, Ronis, Cartier Bresson, Riboud… Of all these, he was the first to receive the Prix Niepce in 1955. Doisneau followed in 1956. What sets him apart is that, on the one hand, he did not give in to the call of the capital, continuing to defend his region and his city of Toulouse, where he created the Château d’Eau gallery, and on the other hand, he tackled all areas of photography: reportage, illustration, portraiture, industry, Romanesque architecture, aerial views, landscape and still life.
He constantly sought to push to the extreme the limits of an art form that was all too often conventional. To free himself from his dependence on the capital, he set up a fully equipped studio in Toulouse, enabling him to make large-format prints on baryta paper.

Le Lieuzaide
It is located close to the Tourist Office and the Musée Arts et Figures des Pyrénées Centrales, in a building well known to the people of Saint-Gaudin: the former Abadie printing works.
Housed in the former premises of a printing works, the building was made available to accommodate part of Jean Dieuzaide’s studio collection. It retains some of its industrial aspect, and is a marvellous, sober and pure showcase for the photographic works on display.
It is dedicated to photography, and not just to Jean Dieuzaide. It will regularly host works by talented photographers from France and abroad. Not to be missed!
