The Tour de France…
The Tour de France route is varied and demanding. It includes flat stages, favorable to sprinters, mountain stages in massifs such as the Alps or the Pyrenees, and time trials where riders compete individually. Almost every day, cyclists often cover more than 150 kilometers, requiring excellent physical condition and stamina.
The overall classification is based on the total time achieved by each rider. The leader of this classification wears the famous yellow jersey, the symbol of victory. Other classifications also exist, such as best climber (polka-dot jersey) and best young rider (white jersey).
Over the years, the Tour de France has become a major sporting event followed by millions of spectators worldwide. It’s also a real people’s festival, attracting large numbers of fans along the roads to cheer on the riders.
The Tour de France embodies sporting achievement, endurance and the passion of cycling, while at the same time showcasing the landscapes and regions it passes through.

the Tour de France and the Pyrenees
Every year, the tour passes more or less close to home…
The Tour is 3,333 km covered in three weeks.
Some years, Saint-Gaudens is fortunate enough to be either a finishing or a starting town.
n either case, the stages of the Tour that pass through the Pyrenees allow you to follow the riders without traveling too many kilometers. You can go for a walk, visit towns and villages, have a picnic. It’s a time for getting together and experiencing the atmosphere of the event, with festive events organized by the stage towns. Cyclists benefit from this popular energy, which motivates them to keep going.
