LECTURE – GALLO-ROMAN SCULPTURE: TOOLS, TECHNIQUES AND WORKSHOPS IN ROMAN GAUL

The abundance of stone sculptures unearthed in the Gauls during the Roman period will prompt us to take a closer look at the techniques and tools used, derived from Greek sculpture. This knowledge was passed on either via Rome or directly from Greece and Asia Minor. The formation of itinerant or local workshops was often linked to the proximity of quarries.
