Les Nuits Fraîches: Today’s traditional music and the mountain music of tomorrow!

‘Les Nuits Fraîches’, focusing on today’s new scene in traditional music and the mountain music of tomorrow, which – through its reinterpretation of traditional instruments (electro-acoustic vielles, bohas, percussion) and through hybridisation with electronic and DIY instrument-making, are inventing a new kind of trance – a pop music that is intelligent, danceable, at times virtuosic and, above all… full of meaning and truth!

● 8.00 pm – Concert by Trucs: TRUCS is the collision between Occitan poetry, organic groove and minimalist energy. Vocals, a percussion duo, machines and soundscapes intertwine in a repetitive, soulful trance, where each motif becomes a mantra echoing the mountains. Supported by the Hart Brut label — a Béarn-based sound laboratory — and centred on the percussion of the Pyrenees (notably the bells of NAY’s herds), the duo crafts music that is deeply rooted yet resolutely contemporary. Somewhere between an unconventional dance and a contemporary ritual, TRUCS draws the audience into a physical, visual and vibrant experience, free from artifice.

● 10.00 pm – Concert by Brigalhs: Straddling memory and modernity, the trio weaves a sonic bridge between the songs that once set the rhythm for manual labour—forging, working the earth, wood or thread—and the mechanical rhythms of contemporary workshops. A musical creation that explores the continuity between the craftsmanship of yesterday and that of today. The material is raw and poetic. On stage, sounds become memory, gestures become music, and labour is revealed as an art in motion. This project was in residence at the CERC (Centre de Creacion Musicau de Pau).
