This square tower is the one of the castle that has now disappeared. With a height of 30 or 40 meters, it occupied a strategic position allowing the village to support a possible siege.
An old watchtower (probably from the Gallo-Roman period), renovated in 2003, communicated with the other towers of the Valley of Spades. This tower bearing the number 14, according to the map drawn by the engineer Tousaint Lézat, is part of a set of 19 towers that formed a large signal system used to warn the plain and to warn the valleys.
