About

The Way of the Cross is made up of fourteen small chapels.

This Way of the Cross, which ends with a large cross, leads to the chapel of Sainte-Auraille. There is a small chapel at each station.

At the time, statues of the Virgin Mary, Saint John, Saint Martha and Saint Magdalene were placed around the cross. Today, only the stone bases remain.

The cross was restored by Marc Abadie in 1905.

In 1991, the commune decided to restore the small chapels and install a wrought-iron grille to protect them.

According to legend, every major family in Saint-Pé-d'Ardet was entrusted with the care of a small chapel in exchange for their manual or financial contribution to its construction.
