About
The museum houses vast collections of antique earthenware from the Martres region, glazed earthenware and pottery from the south of France and more than 1,500 earthenware tiles, including the famous Leclerc tiles from Martres-Tolosane revisited in cross-stitch by the Boussan embroiderers.
Various programmes: exhibitions, cultural events, etc.
At the end of an avenue of plane trees, surrounded by a magnificently wooded park, the museum is housed in the former Barthète spa, renowned for the effectiveness of its mineral, bicarbonate, calcium and magnesium waters. Built in the neo-classical style, the building welcomed patients from 1863 to 1927. The thermal spring still flows.
This is a unique space where the applied and contemporary arts coexist harmoniously and vibrantly.
Works by resident French and international visual artists punctuate the visit, sometimes echoing the collections of ancient ceramics.
temporary exhibition :
"Traits d'Union" from August to the end of October: painted shells (TAPAS), velvets and appliqués from Oceania and Central Africa, ancient ceramics and contemporary works of art: a universal repertoire of traces, a poetry of the line.
