About
"Les passagers" tells of the fragility of our lives, the tenuous thread that connects us to life and reminds us that we are only passing through it.
In several of my works, the mother-child bond is obvious: a founding bond, both intimate and universal, that accompanies us from the very first steps of our earthly journey.
By combining old photos and family objects with paint, I seek to prolong the presence of those who are no longer with us, to question memory, its persistence and its silences. This gesture becomes a way of probing what will remain of us, generation after generation.
Along the way, each of us encounters faces, weaves bonds and experiences moments that shape our own history. Music, too, is one of these fellow travellers. It crosses cultures, inhabits rituals and everyday life, and carries with it a unique power: that of awakening emotions and memories that words cannot express. It intensifies the moment, becomes the soundtrack of our lives, and leaves an indelible imprint on our memories.
For my first exhibition, there could have been no better venue than this abbey, a jewel box of time, stone and history. To all the passengers who stop here: have a wonderful journey.
