24 – LES ÉTANGS DE LA FRECHE

Steps

Step 1

From the Hospice de France inn, follow the signs for ""Fontaine Rouge"" and ""Cabane de Pesson"". The track is wide, shaded and easy to follow. You will walk alongside the stream, which will provide some welcome refreshment in summer.

Step 2

When you reach a crossroads (1,449 m), leave the path leading to the Campsaure plateau on your left and continue straight ahead.

Step 3

A few minutes later, you will leave the forest and see the hut. Cross the footbridge and continue on the open path.

Step 4

From the point marked 1760m, the slope becomes steep and zigzags, but the view is superb.

Step 5

After a short rocky section, the trail levels out and you will see the Frèche ponds.

Step 6

Return via the same route.
