If you're a keen fisherman, you'll find plenty of wild trout in the 120km of waterways and 15 high altitude lakes in the Luchonnais.

An exceptional fishing territory.

The AAPPMA "La Truite Luchonnaise" manages around 120 km of medium and high mountain rivers, as well as 15 high altitude lakes, including the famous Lac d'Oô. Rivers such as the Pique, the Ône, the Lys, the Nestes de Garin, d'Oô and d'Oueil, as well as their tributaries, offer anglers a wide range of courses to suit all abilities, from sport fishing to family outings.

Protection and sustainable management.

The preservation of aquatic environments is one of the association's core concerns. It regularly carries out work on stretches subject to fluctuations in hydroelectricity, such as targeted improvements and fish stocking, in order to maintain an ecological balance favourable to fish biodiversity.

Initiatives and events.

The AAPPMA organises various initiatives to raise public awareness of fishing and environmental protection. For example, the "Ma Première Truite" (My First Trout) event on 14 August 2024 offers an introduction to trout fishing supervised by qualified instructors and members of the Atelier Pêche Nature des vallées de Luchon (Luchon Valleys Nature Fishing Workshop).

Communication and resources.

Every year, the association publishes its "Point Rouge" brochure, which presents news, fish surveys and current projects. It also publishes documents such as "Scientifario" and materials for schools, to promote knowledge of aquatic environments and responsible fishing practices.

Governance and projects.

Since December 2021, Daniel Estrade, an experienced angler, has chaired the association. Under his leadership, a number of projects have been launched, including the beautification of the Badech site with the installation of a totem pole and a multi-use pontoon, in partnership with the town council. The association is also planning to map the distribution of trout in its management zones and to resume eco-citizen river cleaning operations, as soon as health conditions allow.
