The owners have established environmental protections tied to their property through environmental easements with a term of 99 years. Since 2012, the Conservatoire d\u2019Espaces Naturels d\u2019Occitanie has been conducting naturalist surveys and implementing agroecological management practices. This has led to the identification of 260 plant species and 611 animal species, including 5 key species for the Zone of Ecological, Faunistic, and Floristic Interest (ZNIEFF), as well as rhopalocera (day butterflies), including the <em>succis checkerboard<\/em> and<em>the wild thyme blue; <\/em> amphibians, including the <em>marbled newt<\/em>, the <em>palmate newt<\/em>, the spotted tree frog, and the <em>southern tree frog<\/em>; reptiles, including the <em>grass snake<\/em> and the <em>western <\/em> <em>green lizard<\/em> <em>; <\/em> 13 chiroptera (bats), including the lesser and greater horseshoe bats; and birds, including the<em> yellowhammer<\/em>, the<em> zizi bunting<\/em>, the<em> red-backed shrike<\/em>, and the <em>European bee-eater<\/em>.\u201d    <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-group alignfull pattern-text has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A gem of biodiversity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Eager to get started, we <strong>head out onto the meadows, ready <\/strong>to make THE discovery of the day: finding<strong>the Gascony orchid<\/strong>. This <strong>plant, endemic<\/strong> to the hillsides of Gascony, is rare and protected. Treading softly, we scan the ground and are amazed to discover<strong> different species<\/strong> <strong>of orchids<\/strong>\u2014MAGNIFICENT! The <strong>fields are colorful<\/strong> \ud83e\udd8b, <strong>insects are gathering nectar<\/strong>, and <strong>birds are singing<\/strong>. Thanks to Mr. Bisognin and Marc, we discover a <strong>veritable museum of biodiversity<\/strong>. It feels like we\u2019re in another world; the word \u201cnature\u201d takes on its full meaning.     <\/p>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-group alignfull pattern-gallery-carousel has-global-padding
