the Middle Ages by Bernard Dodon, Count of Comminges, L&#8217;Isle-en-Dodon, despite appearances, is not a bastide. It owes this resemblance to the city\u2019s former fortifications that surrounded the castle. Here, stone gives way to brick, which dominates the fa\u00e7ades of monuments and old houses.<br\/>Stroll through the narrow streets and small squares typical of the medieval period, and stop to visit <strong><strong>Saint-Adrien Church<\/strong> dating from the 13th century, whose bell tower and MAGEN organ are listed. Notice the deep, intense colours of the 16th-century stained-glass windows and the 15th-century wooden piet\u00e0. Continue your walk past the two market halls that frame the town hall, whose wedding room highlights the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7uvuvq6mhrE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>frescoes by Ren\u00e9 Gaston-Lagorre<\/strong><\/a><\/strong>, this painter from Ari\u00e8ge who also painted in the 1940s in other nearby towns and villages, such as in the church of Saint-Laurent-sur-Save. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Taste local produce<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enjoy the <strong>Saturday morning market<\/strong> around the town hall\u2014you\u2019ll find everything you need for your weekly shopping, with local products. Take the time for a coffee on a terrace. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Local produce shop<\/strong> at the tourist information office<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tourisme-stgaudens.com\/decouvrir\/100-local\/les-producteurs-locaux\/tous-les-producteurs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">local producers<\/a>; here are a few opposite! Enjoy a stay by the lake in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leplech.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the holiday village lodges<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Arboust<\/strong> <strong>dike<\/strong>: in summer, we love enjoying the coolness of the place! Picnic area on site. The <a href=\"https:\/\/rando.coeurcoteaux-comminges.fr\/trek\/18002-L-Isle-en-Dodon-sentier-de-la-Digue-a-la-chapelle-Saint-Roch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dike Trail to Saint-Roch Chapel<\/a> takes you to the other side of town via stepping stones set in the Save at the dike\u2014a pleasant 1.5-hour walk!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The \u201cgreen path\u201d or canal path:<\/strong> An urban trail linking the village to the lake.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Family time in L&#8217;Isle-en-Dodon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Leisure centre: swimming pool, sports complex, pump track, outdoor sports facilities, tennis\u2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Picnic by the lake after your market shopping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Walk to the dike<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toy library and media library<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cinema in the hills and cinema<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tourisme-stgaudens.com\/activites-sportives\/asinerie-marquise-co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marquise &amp; Co<\/a>: 3 km (can be done by bike): enjoy a great time with the donkeys and try the Escargoline this summer on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in L\u2019Isle-en-Dodon, and on other days in Anan.
