The owners will share their story with you and explain why they chose to develop this vast plot of land. True enthusiasts, they’ll also tell you about their choice to maintain the gardens in an eco-friendly way. Here, they say no to chemical products in favour of organic farming methods.

Once you’re in the Hillen Pottery Gardens, there’s no doubt you won’t want to leave! As you stroll, feel free to stop and ask for more information about certain plants—the owners will be delighted to share all their secrets. You’ll even have the chance to taste some rather unusual varieties. Oyster, chewing gum, or even pineapple… surprising flavours that are sure to amaze you!
Awarded the “Remarkable Garden” label since 2010, the Hillen Pottery Gardens can be visited as if you were taking a journey. From the exotic garden that calls for escape, to the bamboo forest that transports you straight to Asia, you’ll feel whisked to the other side of the world in seconds! To round off your visit, take a tasty break at the tearoom “Les Délices d’Elisa”: we recommend choosing one of their delicious homemade tarts. Tried and tested!

The 12,000 plantings in the Hillen Pottery Gardens are a great reason to come and brush up on your botany knowledge.
Spaces designed for contemplation have been created in the Hillen Pottery Gardens—perfect for a reading break, meditation, or simply relaxing in a natural setting.
The pottery pieces, made by Renate and Lutz, trained potters, enhance the site and add an artistic dimension to the Hillen Pottery Gardens.


Plan Your Visit
Opening hours:
From Tuesday 14 May, 2 PM until 30 September, 6 PM
Open Wednesday to Sunday from 2 PM to 6 PM. Ideally with a reservation to make the most of the gardens.
Weekly closure: Monday and Tuesday
It is strongly recommended to call before coming to the gardens if the weather is uncertain—rain, thunderstorms, storms, heatwaves—and if you’re coming from far away, even if you have made a reservation.
Picnic areas open at 12 PM and are reserved for garden visitors
With email reservation at lespritdelisa@gmail.com (due to a small catering area), you can enjoy the tearoom and treats “Les délices d’Elisa” (online shop, online reservations and payment). Pick-up on site Friday, Saturday and Sunday by appointment.
L’Esprit d’Elisa is also a fine-dining organic restaurant where Chef Renate-Elisa Hillen offers refined and flavourful cuisine made with organic-farming produce from their organic garden; everything is homemade. By reservation only at lespritdelisa@gmail.com.
